Most Londoners will be breaking out the sun cream and visiting beer gardens thanks to warm and sunny weather heading towards the capital.

But in less than ideal news for people who suffer with hayfever, the increased temperatures will also bring a very high pollen count.

The Met Office predicts London will see temperatures of up to 25°C today, with highs of up to 23°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Aside from the early hours of Saturday morning and a brief stint of Saturday afternoon, the weather is set to stay dry throughout the entire weekend.

But the pollen count is expected to be very high for the next few days into the early part of next week.

The Met Office’s pollen forecast says: ‘Grass pollen will rise in warm, dry weather. Nettle, dock & plantain too.

‘Spores: A little Alternaria & medium Cladosporium when warm; Leptosphaeria after rain.’

And the full forecast for the entire weekend in London predicts: ‘Mainly fine, with early mist soon dispersing as some warm sunny spells develop, perhaps periodically hazy under high cloud.

‘Probably generally cloudier later, with the odd shower in western parts. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

‘On the cloudy side at times over the weekend, perhaps with the odd shower.

‘Some sunny spells developing too, as very warm, increasingly humid conditions establish into the new week.’

Those very warm conditions could well be the beginnings of a heatwave as a cooler start to June finally starts to heat up – with our temperatures on par with conditions in Barcelona.

And UV levels in London are also predicted to be high across the weekend.
